Directions

In a bowl, soak Brown Rice in Water for 30 mins. Cook the Rice & keep aside.

In a pan, add Oil & Cumin Seeds. Saute for less than a minute.

How to Make Jeera Rice
There are various methods to prepare Jeera Rice. Some people prepare Jeera Rice in cooker while other use open utensils like kadhai. If you know the basics of cooking rice, then you can choose any Jeera Rice recipe, the results will be almost similar. The most economic method is making Jeera Rice in cooker. Using a pressure cooker:
Using a pressure cooker: Wash a cup full of rice and soak it in water. The water level should be at least an inch high than the top of the rice. Drain all the water from the rice after at least half of an hour. Set them aside to be used later. Take a pressure cooker and add some ghee to it. Once the ghee is enough hot, add cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, cloves, bay leaf, and any other whole spice of your choice. Sauté for a few seconds and then add the drained rice to the cooker. Mix all the ingredients and sauté again. Add a cup of water along with salt. Put on the lid and cook the rice for 2 to 3 minutes. By now the pressure cooker should be about to whistle. Turn off the flame and set the cooker aside to release its pressure naturally. Once the pressure the released, open the lid and check if the rice is perfectly cooked or not. Perfectly cooked rice is puffed up and becomes tender. Refer to a Jeera Rice video to see how they look like. Transfer the rice to a serving plate after mixing them well. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with any side dish for Jeera Rice like dal or kadhi. Using a pot: Wash a cup full of basmati rice and soak it in water. Take a pot and heat some ghee in it. When the ghee is hot enough, add some cumin seeds and whole spices to it. Add drained rice and chopped green chili to the pot once the cumin seeds start spluttering. Sauté the rice for 2 to 3 minutes on medium flame, this will help in adding more flavor. Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste in the pot. Mix all the ingredients and bring the rice-water to a boil. Simmer the heat once the water starts to boil. Cover the pot and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes. The water should have evaporated by now and the rice must be perfectly cooked. You can garnish Jeera Rice with chopped coriander.
